How is blood donated?
>>  Blood donation step by step

A SMALL, BUT A REWARDING EFFORT

Blood donation is a fast and an easy way of helping someone. The donated blood is separated into its components of red cells, platelets and plasma. In Component Therapy patients receive the part of blood they need instead of whole blood.  Therefore, one bag of blood can help many patients, and it only takes about 10 minutes to donate. The whole donation process takes approximately 30-60 minutes in all.

Donors may arrive on their own initiative or in response to an invitation from the Blood Service. Both ways are equally worthy.  If the donor gives the Blood Service a permission, they may be invited to donate by a postcard, a text message, e-mail or by telephone.
