Welcome to visit the Blood Service
Bring your students or your group to visit the Blood Service, our functions and find out the route the blood takes from donor to patient!
We organise free, hour long introductions to Blood Service for example to health care and high school students in Kivihaka Blood Centre, Helsinki (Kivihaantie 7). In other cities where there is a Blood Donor Centre (Espoo, Lahti, Tampere, Turku, Jyväskylä, Seinäjoki, Kuopio, Oulu) you can enquire about the possibility of a visitor from the Blood Service coming to your facility. Some of the Blood Donor Centres have a possibility to receive small groups to visit (due to the limited amount of space).
Fill in the form below or ask for more information from your nearest Blood Donor Centre.
In Helsinki the visits will be organized, if there are a minimum of 10 people attending. The auditorium in Kivihaka can take up to 100 people. The introductions are in Finnish, Swedish or English between 9 am and 5 pm. Those who are 18 years old or older have a possibility to donate blood (Kivihaka Blood Donor Centre is open Mon-Thu 11 am-6 pm and Fri 9 am-4 pm). You need to take with you a valid proof for identification. To donate blood you need to know either Finnish, Swedish or English. Unfortunately the use of an interpreter for other languages is not permitted. It is recommended that you do our web test to learn about your eligibility to donate before each donation www.sovinkoluovuttajaksi.fi.
For more information please call our free donor helpline on 0800 0 5801 (Mon-Fri 8 am-5 pm). One donation helps up to three patients.
Please contact us well in advance before your visit, at least 3-4 weeks beforehand.
