Did you know that
Volunteer donors help approximately 40,000 patients every year in Finland.
Since blood cannot be replaced by artificial agents, for many seriously ill patients, donated blood is a true lifeline.
Blood products are needed in the treatment of surgical patients, accident victims, cancer patients and premature babies, for example.
In order for patients to receive the blood products they need, 800 blood donations are needed every weekday in Finland. You can save a patient's life by donating blood.
We are always in need of new donors. Test your eligibility by completing our online test and start today! You will find the opening hours and locations of our Blood Service Centres and blood collection events here. Remember to fill in the electronic health questionnaire before donation.

The Blood Service separates the donated blood into red cells, platelets and plasma. Red cell and platelet preparations are manufactured into end products by the Blood Service and used for the treatment of patients in Finnish hospitals. In turn, the Blood Service sells the plasma raw material separated from the blood to Finnish and international partners for manufacture. Plasma-derived medicines are used for blood transfusions and in the treatment of haemophilia patients, for example.
