More young men are needed

The Stem Cell Registry requires more members, and, in particular, young men. If you are a young man in good basic health and aged younger than forty years, you can always join the other helpers. What is more, you could ask your friends to join.

How to join the Registry.

Why men?

1) Currently, there are fewer men in the registry than women.

2) Men are taller as a rule, enabling them to donate larger numbers of stem cells, which adds to the sufficiency of treatment for adult patients.

3) Men are more likely to be available to donation, as women cannot donate stem cells while pregnant or breastfeeding. Pregnancy can cause a woman's body to develop antibodies which may have a harmful effect on the stem cell recipient after the transplant.
